Album: If this isn’t love Artist: Channe Nussbaum Producer: Stephan Grabowski Label: Exlibris EXLCD 30112 »It has been very liberating for me to record my new album. Musically I have for the first time reached a point where I can draw on the many places I have been in my musical life: ballads, pop, show, musical, song contests and klezmer. Styles I always used to keep separated.« After 3 highly praised albums, she decided that the next one should definitely be in Danish. »After having worked with Jewish folk music for so many years, I wanted to show a deeper and more vulnerable side of myself. And I also wanted the listener to understand, what my lyrics were all about. In my search for inspiration I ended up at The Danish Institute for Folklore, and here they helped me find some lyrics from the 18th century. I have given these a personal interpretation.« Apart from these old, Danish lyrics, the cd also contains lyrics by Jacob Eriksen (former singer/guitarist in the Danish band Shirtsville), and by Channe Nussbaum herself. »I have always been melancholic and with a sense of the dramatic and even though I have gotten older, I am still drawn to those aspects of life.« My own lyrics for the most part deal with the world I live in right now. Emotionally, it is a world with grand feelings and chaos, divorce and desertion. At the age of 45 I realize that I myself have also let people down. This insight makes you think a little deeper.« There are 3 instrumentals on the album. »Here we offer the listener a little time to rest. Moments where you get the possibility of listening to a single instrument playing – the pieces work as short breathing-hole and makes a nice change in the overall sound picture.
